Who we are ?

MWAHEO stands for Micro-World Agricultural, Health & Educational Organization. This is a whole sentence about a company, a mouthful, so use its acronym MWAHEO. Let's try this phonetically: Mm-WA-He-Oh. Doesn't that sound much better? MWAHEO is a Washington State Federal Section 501C3 Nonprofit organization founded 2 years ago. EIN # 602.806.399; UBI # 92-3984970. We have bought a school in Ghana and are trying to keep 160+ students, 13 teaching staff, 20 non-teaching staff, and a community filled with hope and optimism. Our school is called the American Beacon Academy (ABA). We have a five-year plan to improve all aspects of the school as a private American-Ghanaian-run private school.

Our History

As an educator at Garfield High School in Seattle in the 90s, in Washington State, I joined a fantastic student-centered group of technical students called Global Technology Academy (GTA). Under the leadership of a colleague staffer, Mr. Kjell Rye. This group traveled the world distributing computers, stationeries, and educational paraphernalia to underprivileged schools. They visited 28 countries, spreading goodwill and materials and imbibing multi-cultural exchange wherever they went. They left indelible marks. During the group's 10 visits to Ghana, I pleaded for them to visit my village in the central region of Ghana. Would you believe it? They agreed, and off we went. I am forever grateful for GTA rendering the impossible possible for me. I dedicate my school, students, staff, and entire community to them. Please rummage through this website to see some of their tracks and good deeds. Thank you.

Our Goal

Align graduation with specialization in one of the myriad vocational subjects, such as poultry, net fishing, buying and selling, maize or cassava, and maize farming, as a backup to paper certification.

Our Vision

Our vision is to grow exponentially and eventually become a vocational/technical school specializing in ONE vocational subject, including but not limited to poultry, cassava, maize, cocoa, and fish farming, in addition to buying and selling products, not mere certificates. Many have certificates but no jobs so that ours will be a game changer. We already have thousands of graduates looking for employment without any meaningful success. Most of our students grew up knowing many of these listed activities. They are familiar with them. The difference is that they can use what they know and have learned, to make a living.

Our classrooms may not tell the whole story; the learning and determination of staff and students tell a whole new, encouraging story. Here, paid volunteers courageously hoist our proud flags aloft.
